Feature: Healthy Oceans
Protecting Our Oceans
Our oceans, coasts and Great Lakes are under enormous strain as a result of overexploitation, habitat degradation, coastal pollution, increaing industrial pressure and climate change. We have a Clean Water Act for our water and a Clean Air Act for our air; we need a similar national policy for these resources. A unifying national policy like the Obama administration is exploring can lay the groundwork for protecting our oceans from all of the threats that they face so we can make real progress in improving the health of our seas.
