energypolicy, gastax, renewables, taxpolicy
New York Times columnist Thomas L. Friedman has been on sabbatical writing a book; I'm not sure whether this fiery column about the "shameful pandering" of the holiday gas tax repeal signals a return or just that he's hoppin' mad over the proposal.

The bad news: the Cape Cod Commission is likely to reject Cape Wind's electric cable. The good news: the MA Energy Facility Siting Board will almost certainly overrule the Commission and the permitting process will continue.

These companies are working on 10MW (!!) trubines for offshore wind farms. Interestingly they would also be ultra-low-speed generators spinning at just 11 revolutions per minute. Still the tip speed of the blades would be fast enough to knock you silly.

I've had the pleasure of knowing Vinod through our mutual interest in biofuels for almost 2 years now and I have great respect for his perspective on clean energy technologies. Fascinating and instructive to see the range of his investment.

This is going to be a very large wind farm with 1.3 gigawatt capacity. Interesting also that the UK enviro minister says that this "first of a number of large-scale offshore wind farms."

solar, PV, renewables, electricity
This is great news. As the cost of making solar cells comes down, the balance of system costs (framing, glass, mounting, wires, etc.) become increasingly important and efficiency gains effectively drive these down by reducing the amount needed for a given

A city of 500,000 people, supported entirely by renewable energy? sounds too good to be true.
