Massey Is Fooling No One

Although the price of coal is unfortunately up compared to historical levels, I found it interesting that the financial website Motley Fool singled Massey Energy out as a risky investment.  To wit:

"Of all the deep-value prospects within the embattled coal-mining sector, I would not list Massey among my top picks. Given allegations of environmental transgressions and legal battles over the company's practice of mountaintop removal, I believe Massey is an easy target for potential regulatory changes. Furthermore, the company's $250 million settlement of another court case drained substantial liquidity at a most inopportune time."

I certainly hope the economy improves soon, but I can only wish the same dismal financial forecast for every coal company that is ravaging Appalachia by mountaintop removal

Sometimes, great things are achieved by economic means. Green energy is the buzz word and people are starting to really look for value for their dollars. If wind energy investing reaps rewards both ecologic and economical, companies like Massey will have to change drastically to keep investors and keep investors happy. Thanks for continuing to spread the word - this little tidbit's going on my Facebook page for sure!

While green maybe be the buzzword, so is 'depression'. 'Green', has a cost and perhaps Wind is the greatest fleecing of nations in many ways, because cost vs output it is actually 'unsustainable'.

As 'green'is financed by debt, everyone needs to consider 'cost', and right now the taxpayer wll NEVER absorb the costs of current proposed plans.

@Neville: No offense, but I checked out your website and saying that you have a renewable energy solution that's 1000x more powerful than anything and then neglecting to say what it is or how it works is highly unlikely to engender a lot of faith in your proposals.
