Seriously, I read it in Grist, not The Onion.

Reminder: In West Virginia a lot of coal is removed by...wait for it...actually removing the tops of the mountains.  Below are a few photos I took in the so-called "Mountain State" of mountaintop removal.

 

 

Almost Heaven, they say?  Heaven help us.
