WSJ on Bikes in NYC

Jason Gay has penned the best article about biking in NYC that I've seen in a long time. He rightfully put the anti-cyclist zealots in their place, while also calling on NYC bikers to be more responsible. As he put it, "New York's cycling momentum looks unstoppable."
I've been biking in Manhattan since the mid-1980s. So I know that we are truly living in the golden age of cycling in NYC - 250 miles of new bike lanes in the past couple of years, thanks to the leadership of NYC DOT Commish Janette Sadik-Khan and her cracker-jack staff; waterfront parks throughout the city with biking front-and-center; skyrocketing numbers of bike commuters - all contributing to making bikes more visible and safer than ever before.
And all contributing to helping the city meet the transportation, climate, and air pollution goals of PlaNYC 2030, the Bloomberg administration's sustainability plan.
And we don't even have our pilot bike-share program up and running yet. Just imagine how great it will be to pick up a bike on 8th Avenue and zip across town to a meeting on Madison Avenue - faster, cheaper, and better for the environment than a cab - and more fun too.
In other words, we're just getting going.
