Launching the People's Climate March
Last week we joined with dozens of our allies in Times Square to formally launch the People's Climate March. The March will take place on September 21st, 2014, when world leaders will be coming to New York for a United Nations summit on the climate crisis.
My colleague, Sindhu Bharadwaj, summarized the kickoff of the People's Climate March in this way:
The press conference demonstrated just how many communities and individuals have a stake in the climate issue and are willing to make a serious statement about the need for international action. Personally, it struck me to see such a wide variety of grassroots organizations, union members, faith groups, students, and international NGOs standing in solidarity with one another. The event really highlighted the energy and strong commitment so many people have towards climate justice and I think it's very promising for the march in September.
Check out the below video to get a sense of the energy from last week's press conference and join us on September 21st to send a powerful to our world leaders that we demand bold action to address the climate crisis.
