How many large and small American businesses are going to have to speak out in favor of the climate bill and clean energy jobs before Congress gets the message?

In the last 100 hours alone, literally hundreds of firms from across the nation have added their voices to the call for action:

  • More than 65 major US Companies appear in ads in today’s Wall Street Journal and Politico, saying “We believe it’s time for Democrats and Republicans to unite behind bi-partisan, national energy and climate legislation that increases our security and limits emissions, as it preserves and creates jobs.” The ad, led by members of the US Climate Action Partnership (USCAP) can be found at www.climatead.org.
  • More than 80 leading CEOs from U.S. businesses sent a letter to President Obama and members of Congress today calling on them to move quickly to enact comprehensive climate and energy legislation that will create jobs and enhance U.S. competitiveness. The letter, organized by We Can Lead, can be found at http://www.wecanlead.org.
  • 1,800 small, medium and large businesses from diverse sectors are urging Congress to enact “clean energy and climate legislation that will significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions” through the website American Business for Clean Energy

You don’t have to be a business genius to figure out the bottom line here. Large and small American businesses of all kinds agree that comprehensive clean energy and climate legislation will create jobs and foster the innovation that will strengthen our nation's economy, improve our national security and clean up our environment.

More to the point, these businesses are actually pleading with Congress to enact the climate bill. The message to federal lawmakers from America’s employers is unmistakable: Show some leadership and get down to the business of passing climate legislation now.

Out here in California unemployment is around the 12-20% range in many areas. 1 out of 5 Californians are out of work! Contractors, operators of off-road diesel equipment, trucking companies, farmers are loosing homes, their businesses. In just this one section of the work force, we have 100s more people out of a job. This in the last two months. All this because of CARBs' diesel emission regulations.
So, are these jobs you site coming after thousands more lose theirs? Frankly, your science is backwards and your policies hurt FAMILIES!
No, Mr. Altman many small businesses here in California are NOT asking for "Global Warming" bills. Especially in the wake of CARBs recent deceit of false information.
