      <![CDATA[<p>As the U.S. House <a href="http://switchboard.nrdc.org/blogs/ddoniger/house_to_vote_on_american_clea.html">nears a vote</a> on the American Clean Energy and Security Act, reportedly on Friday, former Vice President Al Gore <a href="http://blog.algore.com/2009/06/this_is_the_week.html">is calling it</a> "<strong>the most important environmental vote of this generation</strong>."</p>
<p>President Obama<a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2009/06/23/us/politics/23text-obama.htm?_r=2&amp;pagewanted=all"> said this week</a> that the bill, which would cap global warming pollution and result in clean energy investments that <a href="http://www.nrdc.org/energy/greenjobs/">create new jobs</a>, would "<strong>open the door to a better future for this nation</strong>."</p>
