The Sacramento Bee published an op-ed from Sarah Janssen, urging California to make sure new flammability standards improve fire safety and eliminate use of toxic chemicals; Sarah also called for Congress to pass the Safe Chemicals Act… In an MLB.com piece, about yesterday’s White House “Sports and Sustainability” discussion, which recognized NRDC’s work to green professional sports leagues, Allen Hershkowitz urged American businesses and citizens to “follow the lead established by our National Pastime”… Getsolar.com also covered the event, quoting Allen’s blog on the efforts Major League Baseball has made to improve its environmental friendliness…
In a Greenwire piece, Ann Alexander explained the importance of the EPA’s ability to enforce water pollution across the sprawling Mississippi River Basin… KPCC Southern California Public Radio mentioned an NRDC poll that revealed overwhelming support for the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), which would requiring tighter chemical regulations…
In a KLJB-TV local news piece (Iowa), Sarah Janssen applauded the FDA for banning BPA from baby bottles and sippy cups, but said “this is only a baby step in the fight to eradicate BPA”… Care2.com cited NRDC research that shows plastic trash accounts for 60 to 80 percent of the litter now our oceans… NRDC was mentioned in a FOX News piece about the importance of bees and 10 crops that would disappear without bees.
