The New York Times published a poignant “video op-ed” from Robert Redford and NRDC urging President Obama to oppose the Keystone XL pipeline. This well-crafted and powerful 3-minute clip was specifically requested by the Times and is currently running on the homepage and opinion homepage of NYTimes.com.  

Frances Beinecke was quoted in a Huffington Post piece about a new NRDC report that recommends closing New York State’s Indian Point nuclear power plant due to safety concernsIn the print edition of the New York Times, Ashok Gupta discussed the importance of shutting down Indian Point and clarified that New York would not need new power capacity until 2020… NRDC’s report received extensive coverage in media outlets, including; Reuters, Associated Press, Wall Street Journal, CBS, Politico, Treehugger and Greenwire

In the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Shannon Fisk commented on Baard Energy’s decision to abandon coal in an effort to manufacture jet and diesel fuel in Ohio. The proposed refinery had been the first coal-to-liquid facility to receive pollution permits, but will shift to natural gas due to NRDC and Sierra Club legal fights… Shannon was also quoted in the Youngstown, Ohio Business JournalAndrew Wetzler spoke to E&E News about a recent court ruling on polar bears that could force the Obama administration to take a more public stance on climate… In an Associated Press piece picked up by the Wall Street Journal, Thom Cmar criticized a newly released study which cites the economic benefits of cargo ships in the Great Lakes; Thom called the report “extraordinarily one-sided” as it failed to address the downsides of ocean vessels entering the port.
