Susan Casey Lefkowitz spoke to The Washington Post about how political upheaval from grassroots and environmental organizations over the proposed tar sands Keystone XL pipeline permit has caused the federal government to take a closer look at the issue… CNN.com quoted Leila Monroe, who lauded California’s recently signed legislation to ban the sale of shark fins, which drives the killing of tens of millions of sharks every year… The Los Angeles Times opinion page blog also mentioned NRDC in its coverage of this victory… John Walke spoke to Politico about the political maneuverings byHouse Republicans to dismantle the EPA’s ability to regulate pollution that poses a danger to public health… John was also quoted on this issue by the Huffington Post…

Eric Goldstein penned an op-ed for New York City’s Gotham Gazette on the perils of the government undermining state environmental laws by moving too quickly to green-light fracking in New York state, citing “a boatload of unresolved substantive issues and unanswered questions”… The Tennessean reported on an NRDC lawsuit against Dickson County, Tennessee, because of contamination by the carcinogen TCE that has leaked into local wells from a landfill nearby… Alisa Valderrama wrote an article for Environmental Finance magazine on attracting private finance to address stormwater runoff in Philadelphia, a practice that could become a model for greening infrastructure throughout the U.S… Californiaprogressreport.com highlighted the profound economic and environmental benefits of new federal fuel efficiency standards of 60 miles per gallon…
