Of Appointees and Chemical Soup

Yesterday NRDC trustee Robert Redford spoke on behalf of NRDC in opposition to Bush administration plans to lease lands adjacent to Utah national monuments and within eyesight of national parks to the oil and gas industry. Redford authored a scathing blog entry in the HuffingtonPost lambasting the administration for its morally reprehensible actions and spoke alongside Sharon Buccino on CBS Evening News about the importance of land preservation... On CNN.com, Sharon and Redford continued the discussion with details of an emergency lawsuit that NRDC has launched in opposition to the oil lease auctions (several other outlets including the LA Times also quoted Sharon and Redford)...

In USA Today Sarah Janssen emphasized the significance of a report released today encouraging the FDA and other government bodies to consider the combined effects of common chemicals when determining safety standards... In TIME magazine Sharon Buccino voices her faith that Sen. Ken Salazar, a man with land in his soul, is a promising selection for Secretary of the Interior... Nathanael Greene also comments on Obama appointments in New York Times Green Inc blog, outlining his expectations and concerns surrounding the appointment of Tom Vilsack as Secretary of Agriculture... Online, Vanity Fair encourages green and philanthropic readers to donate to NRDC this holiday season...
