The Philadelphia Inquirer reported on NRDC’s recent petition against the renewal of the permit for the Limerick nuclear power plant, quoting Christopher Paine on the insufficiency of the plant’s safety analysis … An Associated Press article cited NRDC’s position that the Limerick plant’s “owner Exelon hasn't conducted a legally adequate environmental analysis”… This Associated Press article was carried by dozens of local outlets, including the Washington Examiner, ABC 27 local news, the Times Herald, the Centre Daily News, the Sentinel, the Republic, and more… NPR’s StateImpact site noted NRDC’s objections to the outdated Limerick plant, quoting Matthew McKinzie on the need to re-evaluate the plant’s safety… Philadelphia Public Radio’s WHYY blog also reported on the petition…
In a Bloomberg article, John Walke emphasized environmentalists will fight EPA’s recent proposal to let power companies apply for more time to comply with new pollution regulations if it proceeds … Shannon Fisk spoke to the Chicago Tribune about the need to retire certain severely outdated coal burning power plants… Bloomberg quoted Susan Egan Keane on the extremely wasteful practices of the textile industry; in the article Susan estimates that in China the industry annually consumes “more than 9 billion tons” of water…
Outside Magazine compiled a list of the “10 best environmental blogs” and named OnEarth.org as one of its honorees, placing it above both Grist and Treehugger… Karen Hobbs explained why NRDC named Aurora, Illinois as one of fourteen US cities that is a leader in green infrastructure to the Beacon-News in an article that draws from recently released NRDC’s Rooftops to Rivers report.
