In the print edition of the New York Times, Noah Garrison explained that yards planted entirely with trees and plants reduce storm-water runoff and sequester more carbon dioxide than a manicured and mowed lawn… In a Reuters piece, Dan Lashof discussed the human health risks from air pollution, as outlined in NRDC’s recent report on the twenty U.S. states with the highest levels of pollution from fossil fuel-burning power plants… Sylvia Fallon was quoted in a Scientific American article about the importance of protecting Whitebark Pine, despite the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s decision not to include the species on the endangered species list…

Chris Paine was interviewed on NPR’s All Things Considered about the recent U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission recommendations for nuclear safeguards; “the recommendations are a good start, but long overdue”… Susan Casey-Lefkowitz’s op-ed was published in Canada's Globe and Mail where she explained the irrationality of permitting the Keystone XL pipeline and sending more tar sands oil to the United States…

Despite recent news warning New Yorkers to stay out of the Hudson and Harlem Rivers due to an untreated sewage spill, New Yorkers should be concerned about the billions of gallons of raw sewage routinely dumped into local waterways from storm-water runoff, according to Larry Levine, as he discussed in a MSNBC.com piece… Bobby McEnaney spoke to the Dallas Morning News and condemned Texas Rep.Ted Poe’s proposed bill, which would auction federal public lands to pay the national debt; “These are everybody's lands, and selling them for deficit reduction is incredibly short-sighted.”
