In light of the nuclear crisis in Japan, Frances Beinecke penned an op-ed for CNN.com highlighting the risks inherent in nuclear power generation and the difficulty of making the industry both safe and economically competitive… In an AOL News article, Tom Cochran commented that the weather will play a role in where the radioactive plumes released from the Daiichi plant in Japan will cause damage… In an NPR Marketplace segment discussing increased support for natural gas development in reaction to rising nuclear power safety concerns, Kate Sinding spoke about the water and air pollution risks that come with hydrofracking and the lack of adequate regulations and oversight for the burgeoning industry…

In a Los Angeles Times Greenspace blog Liz Barratt-Brown applauded a decision by the US government to take a closer look at the risks of the proposed tar sands Keystone XL pipeline; Liz was also quoted on the issue in the Montreal Gazette and The Hill’s E2 Wire blog… In a Chicago Tribune article on Pepsi’s release of a 100% plant-based and fully recyclable plastic bottle, Allen Hershkowitz commented that, "It's the beginning of the end for petroleum-based plastic bottles;" Allen was also quoted on the topic by Treehugger, MSN Money, and in an Associated Press piece that ran in a number of places, including the Washington Post…In USA Today’s Greenhouse blog, Franz Matzner condemned a bill passed by the House that would strip the EPA of its ability to regulate greenhouse gases…  David Pettit was quoted in a Times Picayune article on a legal battle over offshore drilling permits and whether judges can force the federal government to issue permits…
