In an Atlantic Wire blog post about recent anti-coal victories in Pennsylvania, Frances Beinecke commented that, while important, the fight against coal will continue to be an uphill battle so long as coal is cheap and abundant; the post also linked to Frances recent Switchboard blog on the topic… In The Washington Post, David Doniger criticized Rep. Darrell Issa, the new chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, for working with big business to roll back existing and proposed environmental regulations; notably, David took the interview with the Washington Post from his home on Super Bowl Sunday…

Allen Hershkowitz spoke with National Geographic.com about NRDC’s work with major U.S. professional sports leagues to green stadiums and arenas, including the Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, which hosted Sunday’s Super Bowl game… Allen also spoke with the Los Angeles Times’ Greenspace blog about NRDC’s work to green the Oscars and Grammy awards…

Adrian Martinez spoke with the Los Angeles Times about Southern California air quality officials’ decision to allow industry to expand in the Los Angeles region by tapping into a public fund of free pollution credits; Adrian warned that the air board’s decision would add to the region's smog and soot problems in Associated Press and United Press International articles… On Southern California NPR station KPCC, Adrian discussed a recent court ruling which will require the EPA and Southern California to tighten pollution controls in the region… In a Smart Planet blog, Michael Wall commented on the EPA’s proposal for tighter restrictions for testing pesticides on humans…
