Concerns about Triclosan, Stockpiles of Nuclear Weapons, and Incentives for Recycling

In a Reuters article about the FDA announcement that the safety of the chemical triclosan (commonly found in antibacterial soaps) needs to be reevaluated, Sarah Janssen commented that the public deserves to know that this chemical may be dangerous; the piece was picked up by several outlets across the country… In a WTTG (Fox TV News, Washington) news segment on the same topic, Mae Wu expressed concern that people may be putting themselves at risk because they think using antibacterial soaps is the right thing to do… And in a HealthDay (health newswire) piece carried by BusinessWeek Online, USNews.com, and MSN.com, Sarah Janssen emphasized that “these products are no more effective in preventing infections than regular soap and water and may, in fact, be dangerous to their health in the long run”…
NBC New York reported on the upcoming Christie’s Earth Day auction to benefit NRDC in their The Thread blog… The L.A. Times posted an interactive graphic illustrating the estimated stockpiles of nuclear warheads in the U.S. and Russia; the graphic was informed by data from NRDC… Darby Hoover spoke with ABC News online about incentive based programs to help promote recycling; an article including quotes from Darby ran on Good Morning America’s Green Living Guide section of the site…
