Deron Lovaas talks about solutions to America’s pain at the pump on California’s ABC 23; the interview was part of almost 500 press pieces on NRDC’s oil vulnerability report… Last week, at the behest of Karen Wayland, a large group of DC Interns and Fellows bravely faced the harsh DC heat for two hours and protested a pro-drilling GOP rally; popular political blog Politico.com reported that protesters outnumbered lawmakers by almost 2 to 1… In a CNNMoney.com piece Amy Mall emphasizes the need for strong policies to protect Americans from the possible water and air pollutions issues connected with natural gas drilling…
Continuing on the natural gas topic, New York Times reports that NRDC and eight other environmental groups have drafted a letter to NY Gov Patterson seeking a moratorium on natural gas drilling in NY until an environmental impact statement is adopted… And an opinion piece in the Fort Worth Star-Tribune sends readers to NRDC’s land use website in a desperate attempt to help Texas residents learn more about the dangers of urban drilling and pipelines, before it is too late…In the Associated Press Amy Mall criticizes the Bush administration for rushing to pass roadless rules in order to “give away even more of our public lands to industry before it leaves office."
