Dozens of outlets reported on the regional extreme weather records set in 2011 after the launch of NRDC’s mapping tool yesterday.  Kim Knowlton was quoted extensively in Huffington Post and Los Angeles Times pieces about the impacts of extreme weather; Kim advised that “emergency planning and preparedness needs to begin to incorporate the risks from climate change,”... Amy Mall spoke to the Wall Street Journal about a newly released EPA report that ties Wyoming ground water pollution to fracking… In an Associated Press piece, Kate Sinding further explained how fracking poses serious threats to safe drinking water… Amy and Kate were quoted in the Los Angeles Times, Bloomberg, Reuters, Politico, Fuel Fix, the Calgary Herald and various other regional outlets…

In an Associated Press piece picked up by the Washington Post, Wall Street Journal and Businessweek, Deron Lovaas was pleased to hear Exxon Mobil’s prediction that one out of every two cars by 2040 will be either hybrids or some other alternative-fuel vehicle… In a Greenwire piece, David Goldston and Scott Slesinger discussed contentious environmental policy riders proposed for inclusion in the omnibus spending package… The Tennessean featured a piece on NRDC’s successful legal effort to ensure the people of Dickson, TN have access to clean drinking water; this victory was also featured in the Associated Press….

Chicago Magazine ran a massive feature article about Asian carp in the Chicago River---largely built around NRDC's 2010 invasive species report and NRDC’s collaboration with Jeanne Gang, author of Reverse Effect: Renewing Chicago’s Waterways… In an E&E article, Amanda Eaken described Southern California’s transportation plan to shrink the region’s climate impact by shifting away from a reliance on cars and freeways.
