In Reuters Frances Beinecke was the first person quoted, after President Obama himself, regarding the positive impacts of the order to raise fuel economy standards, and in the San Francisco Chronicle Frances celebrated Obama's request for EPA to swiftly reconsider the Bush administration's past rejection of the California tailpipe-emissions waiver application... Meanwhile Andy Stevenson explained the basis for Obama's plans and how the United States can cut greenhouse gas emissions while stimulating the economy in Los Angeles Times ...
In the Associated Press Joel Reynolds called on the Obama administration to re-open navy sonar rules (that environmentalists believe will expose millions of marine mammals to harm) for review ... On PBS NewsHour Online John Walke pointed out that "unfortunately the list of harmful rules not being affected outnumbers the rules that will be blocked by this Obama administration memo" that will freeze 'midnight regulations' issued by Bush before leaving office... In the New York Times Luke Tonachel commended Westchester County Airport for making the logical, economical, and ecological decision to replace all of the airport's motorized ground equipment with electric versions.
