Several San Francisco TV news stations, including KTVU, covered a press conference with NRDC and local fishermen; Doug Obegi spoke at the conference about solutions to California’s growing salmon crisis… On WAMC, Albany’s NPR, Kate Sinding responds to New York’s rush to drill for natural gas… In response to an EPA report saying the voluntary carbon emissions cutbacks aren’t working, David Doniger tells the Associated Press that if EPA really wants to cut carbon emissions, America is going to need an “across-the-board mandatory program”…

David Pettit commends California for improving sulfur fuel regulations in the New York Times, and several other outlets; according to David the new requirements are economically viable for the shipping industry, and “good news for people who breathe”… Diane Bailey also comments on the new fuel regulations in the San Francisco Chronicle… While surprised that EPA has responded to scientific findings Jennifer Sass tells the Washington Post that she is pleased that EPA banned foods tainted with carbofuran residue… Kim Knowlton expresses her disappointment with EPA’s failure to act on the health threats of global warming on Scientific American.com… In AM New York Larry Levine explains that improvements aside, New York beaches are still dirty-- "The bottom line is it's New York, in 2008, the wealthiest city in the wealthiest country in the world and here we are with 27 billion gallons of sewage in our rivers and beaches."

Where are all the comments? This blog is dead. Is NRDC becoming "irrelevant" or do all members agree 100% and don't feel the need to make comments?
Just curious, because I expected more civil debate in the blogs and I'm not seeing much of anything!?

Hi Dan, Thanks for the comment.

NRDC News uses Switchboard as a way of keeping people abreast of NRDC's work as it is portrayed in the media.

We encourage members and non-members to use this forum to get answers to questions they want to ask (i.e. you've used this to discuss pollution in china, oil as a fuel source, and alt fuels).

But in the end this is basically a daily news summary to keep people up to date and linked in to the original articles. Comments, though encouraged, are not crucial.
