My colleague and fellow blogger Deron Lovaas is a new proud father of a baby girl. And speaking of baby girls, I'm taking my two little ones and heading out of town for the 4th of July week. So things are likely to be a little slower than usual here on Switchboard. Happy Independence Day to all of our readers (assuming there are any yet).

- Can lignin hold roads together?
- On the one hand using lignin from cellulosic ethanol plants to stabalize roads has a nice geewiz factor. On the other hand, using lignin to make better roads so that we can drive more and use more ethanol seems a little circular.
