Laura Sanchez, Attorney, Air & Energy Program, New Mexico and Arizona
I work primarily on energy issues, electricity transmission and climate change policy in New Mexico and Arizona. I’ve practiced in the areas of public finance as a municipal bond lawyer, and also in commercial real estate transactions and other corporate transactions, providing support on various transactional projects related to government and finance. I’m currently an adjunct professor at New Mexico Highlands University where I teach in the MBA program, including courses in “Business Law and Ethics” and “Personnel Practices and the Law”.
Guess I might have an opinion or two because I’ve been invited several times to appear as a panelist on the TV show New Mexico In Focus on KNME, as well as being a guest on KUNM’s Espejos de Aztlan radio program. I was also recently appointed to serve on the Board of Directors for the NM Renewable Energy Transmission Authority (RETA) and serves as RETA’s Projects Committee Chair. I serve on the board of the NM Hispanic Bar Association and on the board of Conservation Voters New Mexico Education Fund. My alma mater is the University of Arizona where I earned a Bachelors and a Masters degree, and I earned a Juris Doctorate from UCLA School of Law. So I’m firmly a PAC-10 gal!
