About
- Bio:
After exploring a range of approaches to “saving the world”, I returned to the one core value shared in my disparately-minded family -- love of the oceans and water -- to pursue a career protecting and restoring natural resources as an environmental lawyer, policy analyst, and entrepreneur. With NRDC, I have the opportunity to use multidisciplinary approaches to advance ocean health and restoration and to protect the interests of people and creatures that depend on the marine environment for subsistence and recreation.
I received my Bachelor of Science from Georgetown’s School of Foreign Service and my JD from the Georgetown University Law Center, where I focused on international and environmental law. Related to environmental protection and marine resource management, I’ve worked for: T.C. Hoffmann & Associates, Global Exchange/the Green Festivals, the Environmental Integrity Project, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Office of General Council for International Law. I also have experience working on international security issues with the Overseas Private Investment Corporation, Science Applications International Corporation, the U.S. Department of Defense and related entities.
When I’m not helping NRDC with its collective good work, I enjoy: running a non-profit that throws parties for social and environmental causes (Partycorps.org), surfing, hiking, biking, yoga, camping, listening to music, and dancing.
- Roots in:
- Maui, Hawaii; California Redwoods
- Favorite place:
- Anywhere that the water is clean, the air is clear, and the people are smiling.
- Why "environmentalism" matters:
- The environment is the great connector. Wars cannot help us solve the problems of climate change or decimation of natural resources. Environmental challenges create the necessity and the great opportunity for increased global cooperation.
