10 great ideas I didn't think of

At least, I never thought of them in this particular way and had them published in Conservation Magazine. It's such a rockstar line-up, a little Lollapalooza of ocean thinkers. There are ideas there that may not seem very revolutionary to you, but they very much are in the ocean world we've created over the years. The oceans are a public resource whose wealth and health are hidden from sight, a secret treasure whose value we only guess at from glimpses off the deck of boats. Consumers get so little information about the fish we eat, making it difficult to make wise decisions and affect the market so that it, in turn, affects the environment. Supporting small fishing boats, helping them innovate and improve their gear, these are actions that seem to me to be very much in keeping with the entrepreneurial vision that is the American Dream. We just have to actively take these steps, rather than hoping they happen on their own.
