About

Bio:

I lived in Maryland most of my life, but also spent a portion of my formative years in Des Moines, Iowa. I graduated from University of Maryland with a journalism degree, and interned at a handful of newspapers during my time there.

Before coming to NRDC, I worked on Capitol Hill as a press staffer in a Senator's office. Here, I am part of the New York media team – and spend much of my time on ocean issues and New York initiatives.

Roots in:
Maryland & Iowa
Favorite place:
There are way too many to pick just one. Top contenders include: the Chesapeake Bay, the Mediterranean coasts of Spain, France and Italy, Ireland, both coasts of Mexico, and of course New York City. I plan to only keep adding to this list.
Why "environmentalism" matters:
When I was a kid there was nothing better than building muddy dams in a stream, swimming in rivers, huddling around a campfire, jumping waves at the beach, or summer nights spent picking steamed crabs. As an adult, those are still pretty great. I want future generations to have these same carefree experiences – and really, I want to keep experiencing them myself. But the way things are headed, I know that if we want to keep these (once) simple pleasures – we have to fight for them.
