R.I.P. Abe Pollin, the man who improved downtown
Posted November 25, 2009 in Green Enterprise, Living Sustainably
When the history of Washington's turn-of-the-millennium revitalization is written, developer and sports owner Abe Pollin will be a giant part of the story. He passed away yesterday at the age of 85.
I wrote last year about Mr. Pollin and the incredible impact of his decision to build the MCI (now Verizon) Center arena downtown, and I have now updated that post to reflect on Mr. Pollin's contributions to our community. They are impressive.
Kaid Benfield writes (almost) daily about community, development, and the environment. For more posts, see his blog's home page.
