A world-class city at its vibrant best: stunning photographs of London

A world-class city at its vibrant best: stunning photographs of London

Anyone who has visited knows what a great city London is, in many ways a collection of highly urban villages, but with obvious concentrations of economic activity and architecture.  I'm not going to go into policy analysis in this post; I'm just  going to show you some stunning aerial photographs and tell you how to see more on the web.

These were taken by photographer Jason Hawkes:

the river Thames and Tower Bridge (c Jason Hawkes, used with permission)

Picadilly Circus (c Jason Hawkes; used with permission)

The City of London (c Jason Hawkes, used with permission)

London's Eye and the Thames (c Jason Hawkes; used with permission)

You can view 19 of Jason's amazing shots of London on The Big Picture website.   Even better, you can go to Jason's own site and see many more great aerial photos of many more things, from a fish farm in Hong Kong to a garden maze in Hertfordshire.  The site notes that Jason has been involved in 25 books, with photos taken from as low to the ground as 100 feet to as high as 19,000 feet.

High-res and larger-scale photos and usage licenses are available for purchase on the site.
