John Romano, Global Policy Fellow, New York City

John Romano
I am a Global Fellow with the International Program at NRDC, working on the implementation of the major promises made at the Rio+20 Earth Summit in June 2012. I’ve had the opportunity to work on sustainability at just about every level - as a consultant in the private sector, as a sustainable community planner in the public sector, non-profit, and academic realms - and most recently for the United Nations secretariat in civil society outreach and engagement. I’m excited that my work at NRDC allows me to use my experience at a variety of levels to stimulate real action on energy, climate, poverty and other environmental, social and economic issues and to advocate for new thinking and approaches at the UN to drive the transformative change that is so desperately needed. After previously living in California, Texas, New Jersey and Ohio, I feel like I have found a “home” in New York. There’s just something about living well on a small island with 8 million other people that gives me hope that all 7+ billion of us can manage to share and sustain our one planetary home.
