Pushing for change and smart public policy is not always glamorous stuff. Take public comments. Folks at NRDC sometimes engage in some pretty in-the-weeds policy issues through comments on things like environmental impacts statements and the like. And I always hear them lamenting that positive outcomes can be tough because more people don’t get engaged in the public comment process. Clearly, we all need to be using more Legos and hip hop.

Don’t believe me? Check out this video from Detroit. I must admit, I don’t know anything about the Woodward Avenue rail project---but the makers of this fantastic video sure do!

Wow, this is how you get a stronger democracy in the arsenal of democracy! The video has 15,000+ views---if only a fraction of those people commented on the project, it would have a massive impact. I wish we could get folks this excited about mass transit and the public comment process here in Chicago!
