About
- Bio:
- I've been with NRDC since we opened our doors in 1970 as the nation's first law firm for the environment. Before that I was an assistant U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, and I'm a graduate of the Duke University School of Law.
Our first case was on our own behalf -- we had to fight for the right to use donations for environmental litigation and still maintain our tax exempt status. It's been an interesting and inspiring path from that case to . . . becoming a blogger!
I served as NRDC's executive director and later president, for 35 years all told. I'm proud to say that I hold the title of longest serving leader of an environmental group, and prouder still of NRDC's accomplishments creating a framework of protections for our wildlands, our health, our air and water.
In 2006 I joined NRDC's board as founding director, and I serve on the boards of other environmental and land preservation groups including the Open Space Institute.
