About

Bio:

I am the Deputy Legislative Director at NRDC. I am charged with handling appropriations, health and most water issues but my time is typically spent on fighting bad ideas on the Hill. I am also a former Congressional staffer from the House of Representatives where I worked for Members from CA and OH. I live in Northern VA (don't worry, I commute to work on the metro or in a hybrid) with my husband, Don, and 2 kids. My son, Isaiah, is 4 years old and is currently obsessed with the movie CARS, pirates, and his cowboy boots. My daughter, Elia, was born on March 20, 2007 and is currently working on sitting up, laughing, and trying to keep up with her big brother. When I am not on the Hill or spending my time with the family, my husband and I are "weekend warriors" as we try to make our home more energy efficient and dreaming of the day when we will once again be able to see a movie that isn't rated "G."

Roots in:
I am a mutt. I have lived in KY, SC, PA and OH but my roots are probably in WV (figure that one out!). My family has now lived in VA for almost 10 years, so I guess I am now from the Dominion State.
Favorite place:
In the rocking chair with one of my kids.
Why "environmentalism" matters:
There are a lot of reasons why environmentalism matters to me. First and foremost, I believe that God gave us this earth and we should take care of it. Not to mention that I would love to make sure that my kids grow up in a healthy world -- I want grandchildren some day!
