About
- Bio:
I've basically had two jobs in my adult life: communications staffer at an environmental group and bartender. They're not that different, actually. As a bartender you're interacting with people at all times, making sure they're happy and have what they want, but you have to be super fast and totally accurate to make it work - while making it seem like you're relaxed and having fun. That's my approach to getting NRDC's message on global warming out to the media. I cut my teeth in the communications shops at the Union of Concerned Scientists and the National Environmental Trust before coming to NRDC. I've been on the front lines of seeing climate change go from a controversial theory to an indisputable crisis for all humanity.

- Why "environmentalism" matters:
- For forty years, "environmentalists" have asked, "how can we get non-traditional partners to care about the environment?" It was a polite way of saying, "how can we get -- for instance -- Virginia Tech frat boys to stop being so apathetic?" Well, I'm here to say that as a real-life Virginia Tech frat boy, I care. It's time for old-school environmentalists to wake up and realize that as long as they can explain their work in plain, clear messages, they have far more support than they would ever imagine.
