Thanks for having this website for asking energy questions. I have one question. We have a small 8-year old refrigerator w/freezer in our basement that I recently unplugged to save energy, but we need it 3 to 5 times a year to store extra food for holidays/parties. Is it more energy efficient to keep it unplugged except for 3 to 5 times during the year when it would be plugged in for a couple days (and have to go from warm to cold)? Or is it more energy-efficient to just keep in running 365 days of the year while it’s empty?
