I am based in NRDC's Beijing office, working with China's policy-makers, fledgling environmental groups, and legal advocacy community to improve environmental enforcement in this, the largest and fastest growing country in the world. People are surprised to find that China is passing a variety of laws on open information and public participation, and that lawyers are finding success in helping victims of environmental pollution, if not through the courts, then through a variety of previously unheard of legal channels. My job is to work with and support those in China (in government or civil society) who are committed to turning around China's immensely challenging environmental issues. Prior to moving to Beijing in 2004, I lived in one of the world's other most bustling cities, New York City, and worked as an associate attorney at a private law firm. I graduated from New York University School of Law, and graduated with a B.S. in Biology from Duke University.
