The National Drinking Water Advisory Council (NDWAC) includes members of the general public, state and local agencies, and private groups concerned with safe drinking water. It advises the EPA Administrator on everything relating to drinking water and the Safe Drinking Water Act.

According to a recent article in Inside EPA (available by subscription only), at a December 15 meeting, members of the Council raised questions about the lack of information regarding the human health risks from fracking, and expressed concern about the EPA's limited authority to regulate the practice.

I am pleased to hear the Council is following this issue, and hope in the future its members encourage EPA to do more to inform the public about the health risks.
