NASA expertise being put to use to help the oil and gas industry
Posted July 28, 2011 in Health and the Environment, Saving Wildlife and Wild Places
Earlier this year I blogged about the Obama administration's budget request for Fiscal Year 2012. Among other things, the President proposed that Congress eliminate federal funding for oil and gas research at the Department of Energy that simply helps promote fossil fuel production. The administration said that the oil and gas industry has the incentive and resources to undertake this work without taxpayer subsidies.
NRDC agrees with this proposal. Research should focus on the technologies we need for clean energy--energy efficiency and renewable energy. If there is to be federal funding for oil and gas technologies, it should be for better understanding environmental impacts and developing new technologies to prevent and minimize pollution.
I recently read that NASA is now working to help Chevron search for and produce oil and gas. The information available from NASA does not specify whether the research is being paid for by Chevron, taxpayers, or some other source, but it says the work will "help Chevron develop its energy resources."
Chevron's profits in the first quarter of 2011 were $6.2 billion. I am strongly in favor of government supporting important research where the private sector has left a void and where there is a public benefit, such as improving the environmental performance of oil and gas operations but, as we said in February, it's time to close the cash drawer that's been open to the oil and gas industry.
Update on July 28: I spoke to someone at NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab who said that agreements will be worked out whereby Chevron would be funding the work. We'll be monitoring the project to see how it proceeds.

The city of Washington DC has a long time ago become a den of theives and worse.
It is run by what one man described as the largest criminal organization in the world.
It has gone off and subverted our country to pay for its own New World Order that is both evil and diabolical. They even have their own other wordly space program with advance technologies far beyond anything ever told to the public and whos agenda does not include telling the public.
We put forward to the NRDC technologies that Washington DC refused to tell the public about , Nuclear remediation, plasma waste to energy,Tesla technology, implosion technology that BP refused to listen to to capture and harness the force of the Gulf oil blow out.
But B-52s were out spraying Corexit on my mothers home state with a dispersant 11 TIMES more deadly than the oil itself on whos authority and why from evil men hiding underground destroying our entire human race.
Before NRDC takes down this letter because they won't want to tell the public the truth about the faceless New World Order , we now have millions Smart Meters on whose authority these were installed putting out 100-150 times deadly microwave radiation to destroy and harm and tear apart our RNA/DNA from just one "Smart Meter".
Yet again NRDC REFUSES to account for the Bio Energetic damage they cause iILLEGAL IN EUROPE and DUMPED on the AMERICAN PUBLIC.
We are being sold down the river by TRAITORS and LIARS. Where does NRDC fit into this Agenda?
WE HAVE NASA BACKGROUND YET THEY CONSTANTLY LIE TO THE PUBLIC. ASK PHIL SCHNEIDER NASA.

Sounds like Chevron is helping to subsidize the under funded space program. Sounds like a win win situation. I am sure the families who depend on those JPL jobs are not complaining about Chevron’s reinvestment of its revenues into R&D. Chevron has positive earnings because of the high price of oil. Most of those earnings go back into company growth thus creating jobs and tax revenue for America. The high price of oil is an incentive for people to buy more fuel efficient vehicles, take public transportation, and live closer to their jobs (possibly slowing urban sprawl and habitat destruction).

Americans, including the Dragon tribesman Inuit and the Alligator tribesman Polynesian Indians who were the first invaders of this continent, are criminal-occupiers who destroy our ecosystem to support their filthy lifestyles and enslave us indigenous Terrapin tribespeople as unwilling test subjects for medical experimentation. If any of you have a conscience, would you mind diasporating somewhere else now, like another planet. That is the purpose of your NASA space program.
